How long have you been in business?
I have worked in financial services since 1984, and I have been president of Marathon Financial Strategies since 1995.
What is your primary product or service?
Comprehensive financial planning services for clients, including asset management, estate planning, insurance, tax planning, and retirement
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Prior to going into financial services, I was a former teacher with an MBA. Friends and co-workers sought my help to understand complicated financial issues and to recommend the best course of action for them. I am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). I have also held positions in the Financial Planning Association and the CFP Board of Standards.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Everything we do we do "for the long run". We are relationship-based, which means we will never make a recommendation that endangers the long-term relationship, even if it might profit the business in the short run.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location and do not plan to expand. Growth is primarily the result of satisfied clients referring us to others, but that growth is managed so the level of service to existing clients is not compromised.
